KRB Introduces New Stirrup Benders and Rebar Handling Systems
CPI - Concrete Plant International 2|2008
KRB, Wrightsville Pennsylvania, USA has introduced a new series of Automatic Stirrup Benders and Material handling systems to the global market.
“We are focusing on new innovations this year, ways to streamline the material handling process and ways to make the machines we make the very best they can be.” says Nathan Kauffman Vice President of Marketing and Product Development.
“A rebar fabrication shop makes its money by moving as much bar through the shop as possible.” “Our machinery is all designed with that philosophy in mind.” Kauffman explains. “Machines like our AutoShakeOut SC and EvacuBin system, are designed to speed production as well as reduce touch time and operator fatigue.”
The KRB AutoShakeout SC
This system eliminates the need for shaking out or whipping the bar. The AutoShakeout SC will remove the bars from the bundle, count them, and place them on the entry conveyor. The operator simply lifts the end of the bars to be loaded onto the cradle preload mechanism and those bars are stripped from the bundle, counts them and they placed on the shearline entry conveyor. As the skewed roller strips the bars, a clamp holds the ends of the bars and swings over the counter. The bars are then discharged directly to the entry conveyor from the counter. The entire operation is controlled from the preload operator's workstation. The counting system can also be retrofitted to existing AutoShakeouts or manual shakeout tables in the field.
The KRB EvacuBin
This material handling system allows bundles to be accumulated from a shearline prior to discharging them onto a runout conveyor or bending line. Each bin pocket can be dumped independently of another, allowing bundles to be accumulated, optimized, and evacuated at the operator's command. This flexible system eliminates the need to bend the bars in the sequence in which they were cut.
Attached to the EvacuBin is an auxiliary runout conveyor that lifts the bundles to be conveyed back to the appropriate transfer height. This LiftRoll Conveyor allows the shearline and pockets to work from floor height without the need to raise the shear and add costly work platforms. Downstream operations can be fed directly by the LiftRoll run out conveyor.
Kauffman describes the changes “We have retooled our Stirrup Bending Lines and fitted them with Electric Servo Motors for better precision and production throughput. Our configurations can include coil or strait bar, or both, black bar or epoxy we have a product line that can handle the needs of Rebar Fabricators”
The MiniForm 612
automatically bends and shears deformed reinforcing steel #2 (5.5mm) to #4 (12mm) from coiled reinforcing steel , dual #2 (5.5-8mm), #3 (10mm), and single #4(12mm).
The MiniForm has been designed to achieve very high speeds while maintaining accurate production. This machine is driven by servo motors on all rotational axis and pneumatic cylinders handle the linear axis. The straightening system is controlled utilizing a mechanical memory system with four separate size settings. The straightening rolls can be preset, recalled and changed quickly and easily allowing changeover time to be minimized and maximize production time. KRB Coil cradles are supplied for processing coiled stock. Eliminating small diameter bars from conventional shearlines and table benders greatly increases the overall production of your shop.
The CoilForm 1016
automatically bends and shears deformed reinforcing steel dual strand #3 (10mm) through dual strand #5 (16mm) from coiled stock. The straightening system is controlled from the operator's station without the use of tools. The straightening rolls can be preset, recalled and changed with the push of a button, for all bar sizes via Servo Driven Linear Actuators.
The CoilForm 1016 also utilizes an automatic coil changer to rapidly switch between bar sizes. Changeover time is minimized to allow for greater production time. KRB Coil cradles are supplied for processing coiled stock. Eliminating small diameter bars from conventional shearlines and table benders greatly increases the overall production of your shop.
Kauffman summarizes, “We are very excited about our new products and material handling systems, we are also working on ideas for new systems and technology. We have built strong machines and strong relationships for decades”. “We want to make sure we continue that tradition with innovative new ideas to help rebar fabricators realize the best potential of their shops any where they are in the world.”
